As part of the concert, and in the presence of the composers, an expert jury chaired by composer Ondřej Adámek will select the best composition of the 51st edition of the International Composition Competition. A Audience Award (each listener will receive a voting ballot) and an Orchestra Award will also be presented. The results will be announced immediately after the concert.

In this year’s edition, 51 young composers from 20 countries applied across two competition categories. The finalists in the category under 30 are Zsolt András (Seven Variations from Parallel Timelines), Francisco Pulpillo Chiclana (Rock Me Off), Hajrudin Džudža (Mélasse Noire), Jaakko Kilpeläinen (Vers la clarté), and Jan Kotyk (Světlosmutnění).

The competition is organized by the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava as part of the Leoš Janáček International Music Festival, in cooperation with the Ostrava Creative Centre. Financial support has been provided by the City of Ostrava and the Association of Music Artists and Scientists.

The concert is co-organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music of the University of Ostrava.
